Frederick J. Cavanaugh, 68, left this lovely Island of Paradise that he loved, May 30, 2013. He was born in Central Falls, R.I., to Frederick & Pearl (Lemoine) Cavanaugh.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years (the love of his life) Constance Cavanaugh; two loving children, daughter, Debra McKnight (Andy) of Foster, R.I., and son, Sean Cavanaugh (JoAnne) of East Greenwich, R.I.; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Kevin, Leanne, Megan and Victoria; a sister, Frances Forte of Greene, R.I.; and a brother, Robert Cavanaugh of California.
He worked for 30 years at Hoechst Celenese Corp. in Coventry, R.I., retiring as distribution manager in 1995.

After moving to Jacksonville, Fla., he completed a two-year Culinary Arts Degree with high honors in St Augustine.
He was an active member for 48 years in BPOE Elks #2285 in Coventry, R.I., served as exalted ruler from 1977-1978 and district deputy west 1985, then served on the Elks Board of Trustees many years as chairman.
He and his relocated to St. James City where they have made their home for 15 years, built a house, started a restaurant called Cavanaugh on the Canal in St James City.
Following a serious medical condition, he retired after four years and enjoyed life on the island.
He joined the Moose and American Legion SAL #136 and participated in many activities with all his new found friends.
His captivating smile and wit will be in our hearts forever.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 9, at 5 p.m., at the American Legion Post #136, 4106 Stringfellow Road, St. James City
