Thanks to everyone for helping make Junior Olympics a success

December 12, 2012
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

It was a beautiful day Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Pine Island Little League field where the 31st annual Junior Olympics were held. The event went very well with all the great help and fantastic participation by the kindergarten to 5th grade athletes.

A special thanks to Nina Richter and Sue Slingerland from the Lee County Park & Rec; the wonderful Pine Island Kiwanis, especially Peggie Cozad and Pat Burman who prepared the hot dogs. All the parents who helped and watched ... Thanks also to SunTrust for 31 years of silver dollars, Winn-Dixie for food and drink ... Waggoner & Bruehl, Dairy Queen and Team Shevlin for the T- shirts.

And congratulations to all the great athletes who ran, jumped and threw at the 31st Junior Olympics.

Mike Shevlin
