CCPD: Fill the Boat toy drive a success

December 11, 2012
Pine Island Eagle

The Cape Coral Police Department and U.S. Coast Guard's Fill the Boat toy drive was a tremendous success this past weekend, officials reported. Thanks to the generosity of Cape Coral residents, they collected more than 1,600 toys.

Four hundred dollars was also donated to the cause, along with a sizable gift card from Wal-Mart. They were used to purchase toys for older children, as the majority of the donated toys were geared toward younger children.

In the coming weeks, the toys will be donated to needy children in the Cape in hopes of brightening their holiday season.
