Beacon of HOPE Wellness Committee: Free mammograms coming to the island
Breast cancer is a leading cause of death among women in the United States and will affect one in eight during their lifetime. A woman is diagnosed every 2 minutes and one dies every 15 minutes of breast cancer in the U.S. It has been proven that early detection with regular mammograms results in earlier diagnosis which leads to a 98 percent chance of survival. Early detection saves lives.
