Catch ’em & Cook ’em: Easy Cajun Gumbo

Ingredients:

1 (7 oz) box Zatarains Gumbo Mix

1 lb boneless chicken or pork or smoked sausage

1 lb shrimp peeled and deveined

4 green onions rough chopped

1 (14 oz) can sliced okra

2 stalks celery chopped

Creole seasoning to taste

How to:

1. Follow the directions on the box of gumbo mix.

2. Be sure to stir constantly while bringing to a boil or rice will stick!

3. Sprinkle creole seasoning on meat or fish.

4. Saute celery and onions in butter until translucent.

5. Add celery, onions and okra to gumbo and simmer for 5 minutes.

6. Saute the seasoned meat in butter until done.

7. When gumbo is done (about 30 minutes) add the cooked meat and seafood and simmer for 5 more minutes.

8. Serve in large bowls with crusty French bread and a salad.
