Teen One Book One Community and Teen Read Week a Powerful Reading Combination!
The Lee County Library System is holding a Teen One Book One Community read of Lauren Oliver’s book “Before I Fall” starting this week and culminating during Teen Read Week (Oct. 14-20). The Teen One Book One Community program encourages all Lee County teens to read the same book at the same time.
The Lee County Library System has numerous activities planned around the book. These include: book discussions, writing projects, art projects and special events at all of the 13 library locations. The teens voted to select the author and title during the first quarter of 2012 and ultimately selected Lauren Olivers’ “Before I Fall” an award winning and New York Times bestseller. There will be prizes for the best alternate ending of the book and also the best answers to the trivia questions.
The events run through – Oct. 20.
“By having a Teen One Book One Community project we hope to stimulate a love of reading in this age group. We want to be a community that encourages each other to read,” said Voncile Williams, Program Coordinator for the Lee County Library System.
This teen literacy project encourages teens to celebrate reading for fun and to take advantage of reading in all its forms -books and magazines, e-books, audiobooks and more – and become regular library users.
The list of Teen One Book One Community programs follows below. Additional information about the Lee County Library System is available for your convenience 24 hours-a-day at www.lee-county.com/library where you can find out about library services, programs, locations, view an online events calendar or place a hold on library items.
