Exciting March programs at the Pine Island Library
Want to learn more about those great digital cameras? Phil Rosenberg will present “The Facets of Digital Photography” at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3. Phil’s discussion will include taking, adjusting, and printing photos along with information about photo files.
At 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, we have Fort Myers novelist Sara Williams, author of “One Big Itch.” This novel was a selection of the Miami Book Fair International. In her program “Why We Love Mysteries” Sara will discuss the enduring popularity of mysteries. What drives so many of us to the mystery stacks? Join her to gain some insight into this well-loved genre.
We hope you are planning on attending the 11th Annual Southwest Florida Reading Festival on March 20, at the Harborside Event Center and Centennial Park in Fort Myers. There will be some fabulous authors there including Lisa Scottoline, James Grippando, Tim Dorsey, Chris Claremont, and many others. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. One of the festival authors, James O’Neal, will discuss his novel “The Human Disguise” at a Meet the Author luncheon presentation at the Fishers of Men Lutheran Church at noon on Friday, March 19. Lillian Bradley’s book discussion at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, will be about Mary Ann Shaffer’s “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.” Reserve your copy today.
We’ll also have lots of fun for families at the library this month. It’s time again to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Join us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 6 for the “Seusselation Celebration” for stories, activities, and crafts. Later in the month there will be more stories and crafts at “March Into Spring” at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27. This will be followed at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, with “Wacky Wednesday.”
We’re looking forward to the arrival of new novels by local authors Robert Macomber and Randy Wayne White. Bob has had several speaking engagements in the local area previewing “The Darkest Shade of Honor” and Randy’s “Deep Shadow” continues the adventures in his popular Doc Ford series. We’ll be getting multiple copies of these books soon. We receive new books and DVDs weekly. Come in and have a browse. We’re located at Pine Island Center at 10700 Russell Road NW.
