Thank you to all who show patronage to our VFW and support our veterans
To the editor:
Greetings to all resident Pine Islanders, as well as those passing through and long-term guests visiting our amazing island which we call paradise and home. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4353 in St. James City would like to extend a humble thank you to all who show patronage to our post and support our veterans! It is because of all of you, our volunteers and community, that we can maintain quality programs and provide a post that is a safe, comfortable environment where our veterans can congregate amongst fellow comrades and reflect on times past and enjoy much earned comfort in the present.
We were recently awarded the honor of becoming an official “VFW All American Post” in 2021 because of programs that help veterans and their families by assisting with hospital visits, homeless efforts, community outreach, scholarships, essay contests, public service awards, recognition of teachers in the community, trained service officers willing to help veterans, patriotic education, flag etiquette and various ceremonies that honor those who served and the sacrifices made. Not only the VFW veterans but also our Auxiliary make the VFW strong. The VFW motto “No one does more for Veterans” is alive on Pine Island!
You may think we are financially supported totally by our government; the fact is we rely mainly on the good hearts of our citizens and community. We encourage and welcome everyone to participate in our post activities. Because of all of you and your generous contributions and participation, we have recently been able to install a new roof, update old equipment, insulate our attic space and are in the process of replacing our ceiling tiles.
If you have special talents or hobbies and can lend a hand in making our post even better, we encourage you to stop by and join the many other amazing citizens of the Pine Island family who have helped us in our mission to be the best! The post is in the process of bringing more fun activities and events from the VFW to the island. We have completed a Wine and Cheese Tasting Event (another coming in February) also a huge success while also continuing our most popular Mexican Thursdays with amazing food and our popular margaritas at great prices. Drag Queen Bingo, Breakfast Cars and Coffee, Crispy Chicken and Special Dinners and more are here with more future activities to come. We have a full bar, great food, great prices and the friendliest staff. Stop by, sit a while and introduce yourself.
Check out our New Website, www.vfw4353.com and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/VFW4353 for upcoming activities and events.
Please remember our veterans are proud men and women who don’t ask for much. A simple thank you suffices most, but we must always remember to never forget to support them for their past and future efforts. They have served our country honorably, now it’s time to honorably serve them! God Bless America!
We are looking to increase our membership and encourage you to join our post. All veterans who served in foreign conflicts can become full members. You can become a member of our Post Auxiliary just by having a blood family member who served in a foreign war or conflict, such as World War II, Vietnam or Desert Storm. Required is proof of your loved ones DD Form 214. Feel free to give us a call at 239-283-2277.
