Meo says thank you to all who made Mel-A-Palooza happen

To the editor:

When I designed the Pine Island flag, it’s motto had to be “a community of caring,” because that’s what we are. What a beautiful place to raise generations of family. I have been incredibly blessed this past year. One, got my dream job at Bokeelia gallery. I sell my art there and love my boss. Two, I had a revelation that this illness is not about me it’s about those who love me. Three, brought family together who have been estranged — to put yourself aside, it’s been my simple dream to paint the history of Pine Island, the fishing culture, the historic buildings and scenes that are disappearing.

I am very independent and have always paid my own way so it’s very humbling to receive and so generously. I don’t have to lay awake and wonder how I will pay my bills. The peace of mind this gives me is beyond words.

For all of you who made Mel-A-Palooza happen, you know who you are: Luke, Scott and Mary Robertson, Lisa Dence, Jim and Jill and Sandbar productions, Elsie.

Not sure where this journey is taking me but the love all of you have given gives me courage and hope. Love to all,

Mel Meo
