It is time to listen to the scientists
To the editor:
Gov. Ron DeSantis’ failure to “re-open” the state of Florida in a safe manner is taking a severe toll on the health and economic well being of our citizens. Florida is now one of the “leaders” in the number of new COVID-19 cases, with 5,511 new cases reported on one day last week alone. His attempts to “change” the true statistics in a way to cast Florida in a more favorable light have also not gone unnoticed, and this behavior on his part is inexcusable.
Make masks mandatory for all staff and customers of all businesses throughout the state of Florida (as many other states have already done), in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. Also, contact tracing must be done extensively and throughout the state if we wish to take control. It’s time to listen to the scientists, not the politicians.
