Island seems split
To the editor:
I agree with the Eagle Editorial that we are on the right track with Gov. DeSantis’ plan towards normalcy. Just like the entire country, the island seems to be split on more government or less government. When I bought my place here 20 years ago that was not the case. Pine Island then represented getting away from Cape Coral’s authoritarianism and a leave us alone attitude. Now a small, self-appointed group, anxious to obtain health department funding, wants to send a letter to the governor’s office to recommend the stay at home order should stay in effect and contact tracing/phone triangulation and associated interrogation should commence.
I don’t believe this really represents the will of Pine Island.
If you want to stay home, then do so, but don’t keep the island on its knees any longer than necessary for your agenda and ambitions.
