Thanks to all who helped light Matlacha’s first Christmas tree

To the editor:

The most gorgeous first Christmas tree in Matlacha was a vision of the Luminary Committee, who added to their theme, “Let’s Light Up Matlacha.”

The sky was aglow with colorful tree lights, music filled the air and tasty cookies and hot chocolate were enjoyed by many islanders. And, Santa Mike made his appearance.

All of this was accomplished with a dynamic tea: our chief engineer, Jake Sadlak, and his assistants, wife Char and Dave Hirsch; George Williamson with location; Barnhill’s Fish Market & More’s provided the electricity; Master of Ceremonies Johnny Glisson; DJ Papi Roisterous’ music sponsored by Joe Polotto of Artesean Pools; and Bernard Johnson, who assured safety on Pine Island Road with Lee County’s Sheriff’s Office. In addition, C.W. Fudge Factory’s awesome “fudgy hot chocolate,” the Matlacha Civic’s Association’s liability insurance coverage and a hearty thank you to the Luminary Committee for cookies and particularly, to the their accomplishment of “Let’s Light Up Matlacha” with the addition of Matlacha’s first Christmas tree.

Next year we will add a “topper” to the tree, suggestions will be accepted.
