Tax dollars well spent?

To the editor:

I am happy for the slim majority that voted for the new firehouse built on the extreme east side of Matlacha. Two firefighters and one fire apparatus will be housed there. I would think if that equipment would be needed in an emergency they would also need help from the #1 Fire Station at the Center.

What have we gained for our tax dollars? An increase in our taxes so we could cover Royal Tee and Saddlewood in Cape Coral. Do you know that Cape Coral also built a new fire station just a few miles north of Pine Island Road on Burnt Store road that could also cover what our new station will cover. “They” professed better response time to Matlacha but the new station is only a mile closer to the center of Matlacha than Station #1 at the Center. Well, what’s done is done. I hope those that voted for this new station are happy with their vote.
