St. James City Center Island Crafters meet Wednesdays
To the editor:
Please join us each Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. – noon at the St, James Civic Association located at the corner of 4th Avenue and Lemon Street.
It is a weekly charge of $2 for a civic member and $4 for a non-member. This is the perfect time to join for the 2020 year at an annual individual price of $25.
We have a fun group of people that join us for a variety of crafts. Some of the things that go on at Island Crafters are knitting, crocheting, individual and group projects.
Our activity leaders Ellie and Audrey are very knowledgeable and help everyone out. Even fellow members of the Island Crafters are willing to lend a hand in their particular areas of expertise.
Last week Audrey led a class on marbleized ornaments. It was easy to do and everyone was happy with their creations.
At different times we will be making items to donate to those in need (i.e., lap blankets for nursing home residents or vets, preemie caps, caps for those undergoing chemotherapy, etc.)
We need your ideas! If you are good at a particular craft please present your idea to Ellie and Audrey and maybe you can teach it!
Most crafts will not require any additional monies except at special times when you will be asked to purchase items you will need or if we have to hire a teacher.
We would love to have your donations on yarn, sea shells, wicker baskets., etc. We will use it all!
At our next meeting, Audrey is going to show you examples of how you can decorate wicker baskets. Audrey has a lot of decorations and some baskets.
The PICC & Beacon are great places to find wonderful treasures to use for our projects at very reasonable prices. The Dollar Store is also a great resource.
Any questions please contact the co-activity leaders Ellie (973) 650-9168 or Audrey (239) 282-9484
