Inspired by a true patriot
To the editor:
I am inspired today by the example of a true patriot, Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman. He has emerged from the fog of deceit created by the administration. He has put duty to the U.S. first, and has come forward to provide truthful testimony regarding the call made to the Ukraine’s president. In his words, “I am a patriot. And it is my sacred duty and honor to advance and defend our country irrespective of party or politics.”
His life has been a shining example of duty to the U.S. through military service and award of a Purple Heart. He has been attacked by those who have never served, nor ever made any sacrifice in their lives whatsoever and, in fact, assiduously avoided military service.
Today, we live in a coarse environment where a president makes up names that he deems clever for his opponents and engages in attacks, without facts or reason. And his behavior has encouraged the populace to do the same. It takes a brave man, or woman, to set out a well-reasoned opinion supported by facts knowing that he or she will surely be personally attacked as we have witnessed in these very pages.
