Veterans Assistance Program enters its third year at the Beacon of HOPE

1 min read

To the editor:

This all started in October 2017. It focused on helping veterans come forward and talk to Veteran Service Officer Rodney Van Ness, a Pine Island veteran, about their individual needs. This included health issues, financial needs, surviving dependent benefits and people already on claim awaiting the outcome of Veterans Administration decisions.

Since October of 2017, we have had face-to-face private meetings with over 70 deserving men and women from wars and service dating back to the Korean War. Many veterans we have met are caught in the bureaucratic time warp, common to large government institutions. Our program and our officer allows us to act on the individual circumstances the day we meet, often answering, advising, applying or solving the issues that day.

Please come meet with us. Our program is intended to help our veterans in any way possible. You can meet with us the first Friday of every month. Call the Beacon of HOPE at 283-5123.
