To the editor:

The American Legion Post 136 would like to thank all the volunteers, the businesses and people that donated money in support of the 4th of July celebration. This great event is for all good American citizens, families and children to come celebrate our independence that we all enjoy. This is a great day for everyone to reflect what a great place America is to live. We are the “Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free.” The Legion was open to the public the entire day and hamburgers and hot dogs were served after the parade.

Parade Festivities: Principle Steve Hook and his wife Susan were the grand marshals leading the parade down Stringfellow Road, then the Legion Honor Guard followed by many floats, people walking, children on bikes, motor cycles and even a few horses.

Fireworks: The fireworks were a “wow” moment and open to the public starting at dusk. The fireworks were held at the American Legion located at 4106 Stringfellow Road. This was quite an event and everyone that came enjoyed the show.

Again, this is a costly event and the American Legion appreciated the needed donations from the public and businesses to help fund this special event. Again, thank you for your help and we will see you next year.

Ed Mitchell, Commander
