To the editor:

Pine Island United Methodist Church is pleased to announce that the PILOT (Pine Island Leaders of Tomorrow) program has been given a $20,000 grant from the Iron Horse Family Foundation to support the coordinator salaries. PILOT is the local after school branch of PIUMC’s community outreach and has demonstrated positive results with the students they have worked with.

This coming school year the program will include students from second grade through high school. These students not only receive assistance with school work and dinner, but also are given opportunities to grow in all vital areas such as responsibility, group dynamics and community involvement. Paul and Nichole Pichon have been mentoring students for several years now, and this grant helps us continue the program.

If you would like more information about this or other outreach programs of the Pine Island United Methodist Church, please feel free to contact the church office at 239-283-2386
