Calusa Waterkeeper to be commended for efforts

To the editor:

As a member of the Climate Action Team of All Faiths Unitarian Congregation I wish to thank the Calusa Waterkeeper and their associates for presenting Public Health Alert-Florida Water Summit at the Broadway Palm theater on June 24. Last year they presented the film “Toxic Puzzle”(August 2018), but this year added an expert panel discussion.

The association of Neurological Degenerative Diseases (ALS, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease ) with Harmful Algae Blossoms (HABSs) and Cyanobacteria Associated toxins is becoming more convincing.

We were able to obtain a video copy of the film “Toxic Puzzle” by Bo Landing, which we hope everyone will take the opportunity to watch.

In addition, the Calusa Waterkeeper and associates will initiate an outreach to the medical community and an in-service continuing teaching lab in Lee Health hospitals.

We look forward to their continuing work to protect our community and present the updates to us.

They are promising another Townhall on Aug. 5 presenting the premier of documentary “Troubled Waters” followed by an expert panel, at the same location, Broadway Palm Dinner Theater.

I would highly recommend that everyone get as much information on this subject as possible and use it to protect yourself and your family’s health .

Thank the Calusa Waterkeeper and the expert panel, (our bridge over troubled waters).
