Special privilege?
To the editor:
Concerning Commissioner Manning’s plea deal, it appears that he received special privilege. If Manning had just run a red light and there was no other vehicle involved, I could see a plea being had. But considering the damage and injury to the other party, he certainly got off easy. Manning’s attorney (who must be a doctor on the side) said she wasn’t hurt bad. The fines are miniscule compared to the trauma Ms. Maher sustained the day of the accident. A mother scared she would never see her child again. Then the judge lets him retain his driving privilege. Being a commissioner anywhere he goes, he can state it’s for county business. I certainly hope voters remember this double standard when and if Manning runs for re-election.
