Support our neighbors
To the editor:
I am very worried about our neighbors – the ones who pick our fruit, cut our lawns, care for our parents and fix our roofs. I am speaking of the immigrant laborers. They work so hard in the blazing sun. They came here to escape grinding poverty or worse.
And then I see all the churches on the Island. We are all taught at church to love our neighbors. Will we love them when ICE comes to pick them up? Will we protect them from the cruelties that face the deportees these days?
I hope we all consider the faces of our neighbors, and when the time comes to vote, we vote with our full hearts. I hope we vote to shield our immigrant neighbors and keep their families together. I hope our little island can remain sheltered. I hope that our congressman gets this message.
