Update on proposed development helpful

Thank you to Mike Shevlin for keeping island residents informed about the development on Pine Island Road east of the Center. The drawing featured in his “Local Knowledge” article showed the addition of a righthand turn lane off of Pine Island Road into the development but it was not clear on how traffic would exit towards Matlacha without installing Pine Island’s first traffic signal.
If indeed this development moves forward, I hope the county would consider a traffic roundabout to avoid a traffic signal and further compounding of our traffic issues during season.
No traffic signals is only one of the reasons we like living here.
