Is there a better way to handle the traffic accident situation

To the editor:

Let me start by saying I hope no one was injured in the crash on Stringfellow on Thursday just south of Harbor and North of Ficus.

Let me also state I was very upset by the shutting down of Stringfellow for 5 hours. This is an island with one way on and one way off but I think yesterday they could have come up with a better way to handle the situation instead of not letting traffic through for 5 hours.

There are children that need to get home, parents that need to get to their children, businesses that are trying to operate nonetheless in a slow economy and off season.

I am just saying perhaps our emergency personal need to implement plans for situations like yesterday. Maybe we should get grove owners on board in case of emergency situations. Perhaps create cut-thrus at certain areas that are accident prone.

Just saying the future of the island depends on everyone working together and being on the same page.
