Ballyhoo the arts

To the editor:

“Allure Your Senses” is a magnificent 23-piece exhibit that resides in downtown Fort Myers. The art installation created by the internationally acclaimed artist Edgardo Carmona can be found predominantly along First Street and Hendry Street from City Hall to the riverfront. Edgardo was born in Cartagena, Columbia, in 1950 and studied mechanical engineering, business administration, fine arts, painting and sculpture.

I was amazed to discover the tubular iron sculptures depicting the daily life of people juxtaposed in outdoor public places around downtown. He created multiple parts for each character that he sculptured out of rods, tubes or pieces of steel. Each piece weighs anywhere from 200 pounds to more than 1,000 pounds. Most of his sculptures pieces stand between 7 and 10 feet high.

The Carmona exhibit prior to being displayed in Fort Myers was on display in Paris. Due to the popularity of the sculpture exhibit, the art installation remains in the historic district downtown as long as possible.

You can now experience this impressive monumental sculpture exhibit by Edgardo Carmona, a Colombian artist, with free self-walking tour. I am so compelled to shout-out ballyhoo the arts!
