This is a special kind of place
To the editor:
Someone asked me the other day what it was like living on Pine Island. I told them I had only been living here a little over two years … so, I know a couple of things.
I know there is no ruling class.
I went to a Greater Pine Island Civic Association meeting earlier this year and a charity we have on the island (The Beacon of H.O.P.E.) was there to give a small talk. They mentioned that they had bought a set of false teeth for someone in need and I could tell they were proud of this.
I can only imagine a smile with no teeth.
Then a couple of weeks ago someone donated $30,000 to the Beacon of H.O.P.E. and they didn’t want anyone to know who donated it either.
I know that this is exactly the kind of island I want to live on, because it is a special kind of place.
