Mindless name calling and factual errors
To the editor:
It’s kind of sad in a way how political discourse has degenerated into mindless name calling and factual error. Mr. Healy’s letter perfectly demonstrates that.
The popular idea seems to be that when you run out of ideas to debate an issue, just start calling people derogatory names. His letter is filled with Healy calling Trump and his supporters stupid. That has been the way for quite a while.
I remember when Bush was president and everybody called him stupid, and Gore smart. This despite the fact that Bush graduated from Harvard with an MBA and flew one of the newest and most complicated jet fighters. And Mr. Gore flunked out of divinity school. Ponder that for a while.
Healy says that Mr. Trump just says at his speeches what people want to hear. Well, HELLO, isn’t that what all politicians do? Healy doesn’t even understand basic grammar, calling Trump a “bimbo”, a word that refers to a female. Healy complains that those who attended Trump University were scammed out of money for useless certificates. Well, HELLO again, Mr. Healy. How many young people are walking around with useless degrees in political science, history, art and social studies from major universities and still living with their parents?
Mr. Healy says Trump is “a pathological liar who never does what he said he was going to do.” Well there sure seems to be a lot of real estate development around the country with his name on it. Probably a whole lot more than Mr. Healy. Healy can’t even get his quotes straight.
It was P.T. Barnum who said there was a sucker born every minute, not the great W.C. Fields. So Mr. Healy, just keep your head buried in the sand, or wherever else it might be, and ignore the doubling of the national debt, the unrelenting flow of illegals across our borders, the great mismanagement of our health care system (remember who said that if you like your doctor and health program that you can keep it?) and the 90-plus million of workers who can’t find a job. No, those issues are not worth thinking about.
