Thank you, June Hildreth
To the editor:
I would like to thank Mike Shevlin (Local Knowledge column 3-30-16) for his mention of June Hildreth as being instrumental in making our bike path a reality. As former owner/operator of Island Hardware & Marine Supply, I remember her tireless hours spent walking Stringfellow Road to obtain permission from owners for where the bike path is today. Without her, we would not have a bike path. I did not realize one of the gazebos had been named in her honor, but have always thought she deserved recognition.
When using this beloved path please remember, it takes hard work and numerous man hours to make something like this happen. Don’t take it for granted, keep it clean and be grateful. This has been way too long in coming, but thank you June Hildreth!
