A little bit of Pittsburgh
To the editor:
A little bit of Pittsburgh came to the Pine Island Moose Club recently when I, a native Pittsburgher and Iron City Beer lover, gave an Iron City Beer T-shirt to Holly Rewolinski, bar manager at the Pine Island Moose Club. The shirt reminds me of the beer I loved when I lived in Pittsburgh, where the beer is brewed.
Rewolinski was also loaned a book on how to speak Pittsburghese. For example, “Imp and Arn” means a shot of Imperial whisky and an Iron City beer; “Yunz” means “for you all;” “dahntahn” means “downtown;” and “worsh” for “wash.”
If anyone else has a T-shirt from a small brewery, pick a bar maid and let her wear the shirt.
Holly, if you have any questions about our language in the “Burgh,” just ask Dave Manion. He lived there longer than me. Even if he is older, his memory is still good.
