Vote yes on referendum to support M/PIFCD
To the editor:
The Pine Island Fire Department responded to 189 calls in January. These calls ranged from the tornadoes to medical calls to structure fires. They have to be ready for anything because anything is possible.
The residents of the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District need to ensure that the Fire Department has all of the tools that they need to do their job because lives literally depend on it.
Currently the department is working with a fleet of trucks that has an average age of over 17 years old. They are working understaffed because of unfilled positions due to budget constraints. They are working to protect a district that extends all the way to Bubba’s Roadhouse on Pine Island Road, while dealing with the difficulties of the Matlacha traffic. They are working for the citizens of the district.
Please vote YES on the referendum that is on the primary ballot.
Thanks for your support.
Tonya Player,
Commissioner, Matlacha/Pine Island
Fire Control District
