A real coyote problem
To the editor:
On Saturday morning, Feb. 13, heading to Winn-Dixie at 8 a.m,. I saw a coyote running through an adjacent vacant lot. This is across the canal from where the occupant claims to have seen a monitor lizard in her garbage. Monitor lizards eat crustaceans and small marine animals. They will not go scavenging for human garbage.
The coyote ran to the end of our dead end street, turned around and ran back past me (10 feet away) towards Sanibel Boulevard, and it was 8:10 a.m. My neighbors were just coming out to walk their dogs, and I warned them of the danger.
I suggest that Operation Monitor Lizard be investigated further, because we have a real coyote problem.
So, if you want, you can send me money and I’ll buy coyote traps. (Just kidding)
