Thanks for a great poker run
To the editor:
The 19th annual Great Calusa Poker Run, which was held Saturday, Jan. 16, was a fantastic success. Over $7,000 was raised for the Calusa Land Trust, which procures and preserves environmentally sensitive land here on Pine Island.
Mother Nature gave us a beautiful day in between all the rainy/windy days and 300 people had an enjoyable day on the island and on the water on their boats, bicycles, motorcycles and golf carts.
To all our volunteers at the 12 dealer stations, we could not run such a great “event” without you (and your friends), spending the day and dedicating yourself to the Poker Run. I also want to thank the Pine Island Boat Club and the St. James Boat Club for all their support.
To all our supporters who bought tickets and made generous donations, we could not have the financial success without you!
And, last but not least, to congratulate my “Chick Posse” that spent many hours at our local restaurants and pubs generating the highest ever ticket sales.
No event can be successful without so many people doing so much – – thanks to you all!!

Poker Run Chairman
