Pine Island Community Christmas Boat Parade a resounding success

To the editor:
Thank you to those who decorated their boats and participated in the parade. It was obvious many folks had planned Christmas parties to coincide with the event.
The theme of the parade was in support of law enforcement. Each boat displayed a Thin Blue Line Flag and many boats were decorated with blue lights. In recognition of the community support, patrol boats from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Cape Coral and Fort Myers police departments participated. It was pleasing to hear the whistles and applause from spectators as law enforcement patrol boats passed by.
Before the parade, Capt. Matt Herterick, Gulf District Commander of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, greeted members of the community on the dock thanking them for their support on behalf of all area law enforcement agencies.
Think for a second where we would be without our law enforcement professionals; be it a response to a routine call or as the very first on the scene of a homeland security incident. Continue to remember them throughout the year and note the valuable service they provide at great personal risk.
To all our law enforcement professionals, from the bottom of our hearts, a sincere thank you. Happy New Year and be safe!
