Post #136 Legion Riders are my heroes!

2 min read

To the editor:

Eleven men and three women came with “Get-er-done” attitude. The first thing they did was to put a new canopy cover over my carport frame. All worked hard in the 90 degree heat. To my surprise, the women and a couple of guys took turns in the heat painting my porch two coats. At the end of the day I had a 40-foot ramp with hand rails that they made. It came out perfect from the house to carport.

When done, I wheeled my chair to the landing on top and hollered I’m ready to come down and they made way. I hollered “freedom, freedom” on my way down as it was my only way out of the house. They all smiled and laughed and it made their day. They were proud for what they had done.

Special thank you to Bob and Kimberly Miner for organizing and taking care of everybody’s needs.

A special thanks to Beverly Rufino for her everlasting, never-ending love. She has kept me alive and able to survive the last four years. Her many, many trips to the hospitals and nursing homes and all the 911 calls she has made. Beverly worked with F.I.S.H. and they graciously paid for all the material. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you Beverly.
