A heartfelt thank you to all of our Pine Island friends and neighbors
To the editor:
As many of you know, last fall we took over what used to be known as “Carl’s Service” located by the VFW in St. James City.
When I first met Carl over 16 years ago, he was working as a seasonal “shade tree” mechanic while he was staying here on Pine Island. We became fast friends and I offered to have Carl come work in my shop in St. James City and to live there on the property. This he did, and we enjoyed nearly 5 years there as Carl’s good reputation brought in new customers by the droves.
The business eventually outgrew my shop and “Carl’s Service” relocated to the current Stringfellow Road address.
Although the business seemed to be plagued with “employee problems,” Carl himself always enjoyed a good reputation for being an honest and trustworthy person and mechanic.
When Carl passed away last August, I agreed to take the residual business over and to make it into something that would be an asset to our community by providing “Dealer Quality Professionalism” along with a 100 percent honest and trustworthy auto repair business.
We pretty much “started over from scratch.
We gave the facility a new name and “face lift” inside and out.
We hired the very best automotive technicians available anywhere. We imported state-of-the-art diagnostic and service equipment as well as a new computerized operating system and people skilled in its use. We adopted the comprehensive new Napa Auto Care “TRACS” System inclusive of its superior nationwide warranty.
I didn’t honestly know how quickly our Pine Island customers would recognize and respond to all of these new changes, but I have been very pleasantly surprised at just how quickly the good news has traveled.
Our business is thriving and our good reputation has spread quickly thanks entirely to “you” – our wonderful Pine Island friends and neighbors. You have shown us such great support and loyalty that we will be able to continue to grow in the coming years and to continue to improve and even expand our services to you !
In the mean time, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you Pine Island!
