Saying thanks on behalf of myself, my neighbors and “our” ospreys
To the editor:
I need to say a great big thank you to two people whose names and agencies I’ve lost; I hope they’ll see this and realize that this is for them. On Sunday, May 18, I noticed that “our” osprey’s perch, located across the canal from my house in the Matlacha Community Park, had collapsed. They were frantically trying to rebuild on the remains of the frame but without any success. It being a Sunday, I didn’t anticipate anything other than answering machines, but I started making calls, and much to my surprise, an extremely nice man answered the park’s telephone. Unfortunately, he said he would not be able to help me but gave me the name and number (Sanibel CROW possibly?) of someone he thought could. I immediately called that number and was surprised yet again when a very pleasant and helpful woman answered. She told me she’d get the information to the proper people but had no idea how long it would take; I thought “close to forever” most likely. Much to my surprise and delight, the perch was fixed in less than a week; “our” ospreys were back “home” before the Memorial Day weekend! Again, I apologize for not remembering the names of either of these wonderful, caring and obviously conscientious people, but I hope you read this, recognize yourselves, and give yourselves a huge pat on the back for a job not only well-done but done in record time! On behalf of myself and my neighbors who enjoy watching this perch and “our” ospreys year after year, we thank you!
