‘Fred’s Fish Fry’ a wonderful meal

2 min read

To the editor:

On Wednesday, June 10, prior to the Pine Island meeting, I had dinner at the St. James City Civic Association. This was the first “Fred’s Fish Fry” and it was wonderful. I feasted on a meal of fish, hush puppies, mac ‘n cheese and cole slaw. But the ending – well, what can I say – there was key lime pie and chocolate cake. I will admit that I did not try the pie, since the cake was the most beautiful cake – and honestly, the most delicious chocolate cake I can ever remember.

Well, the article in the Eagle said “one of Fred’s to-die-for deserts” and I can only agree. It’s great to know that those of us who live on the Island year round now have an event to look forward to on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.

To finish off the evening, we heard from Phil that the BOCC apparently is listening to those of us who are contacting them about limiting development on our wonderful Island.
