Ladies Auxiliary of VFW say thanks for successful event

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars would like to thank all who made our Chili Cook-off/Cake Walk a success. We are proud to announce the winners of the Chili Cook-off. The 1st place winner was Ken Horgan, 2nd place went to Susie Bailey, 3rd place Denise Lillis and the People’s Choice award went to Elvira Betz.
The cook-off this year was judged by Jeanette and Robert Jeanette, Silka Lyla, Mary Ann Thiel and Robert Tytula. Our thanks to them for doing the judging; we know that this was not an easy task due to all the fine chili that was presented.
A big thanks to Dennis Sundberg for getting our trophy ladles engraved, and for Gator who did our dishes, also a thank you to Ilya and her Daughter Margaret Valcarcel for making up our flyers.
A fun time was had by all at the Cake Walk with thanks again going to the many bakers who brought our delicious treats. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the cake walk will go into the LAVFW Cancer fund created to help our members with cancer.
Thanks to all for making this year a success for the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
