Matlacha’s luminaries immense success

1 min read

To the editor:

The celebration of the 29th year luminary tradition was an immense success. Neighbors, friends and visitors were greeted with 2,000-plus luminaries that covered Island Avenue, Matlacha Avenue, May Street and part of Pine Island Road.

Many thanks to Santa’s elves who solicited for donations, stuffed the paper bags and delivered the luminaries. Thank you to the residents who had outside music playing on Station 106.3, which provided a merrymaking effect.

CW Fudge Factory’s and Pine Island Community Church’s “live” Nativity setting enhanced the Christmas spirit.

John and Cheryl Honc, again, donated the sand for the luminary bags and Thomas Gammon graciously offered the open lot for the neighborhood gathering.
