Recreating the Smart Growth department
To the editor:
If I had my choice, I would live on a lightly wooded four-acre lot in Bokeelia with about six neighbors a quarter of a mile away. There would be nothing until about a mile south of the center, which would be a commercial center will all of the amenities, big box stores, fine dining, commercial enterprises of every possible description,
It is, of course, a pipe dream, yet that seems to be the attitude of those who seek to stop growth on Pine Island.
I got here first, so I am entitled to more than my share of the good things in life, by denying them to others.
I have said that before, so please don’t waste our time by sending emails of condemnation. Instead, accept the fact that growth is inevitable, and work towards smart growth.
Sadly, we once had an official Smart Growth department. Its director resigned because he found that two members of the BOCC didn’t want smart growth. They wanted NO growth.
Both are gone, so perhaps it is time to re-create the Smart Growth department.
