Pine Island family helps grateful residents find missing beagle

To the editor:

We would like to thank all of our Pine Island family for your thoughts, prayers and help in finding our beagle Princess; she was missing 10 days. We know how much this island family can get behind a cause, but until now we have never personally experienced such an outpouring of love and support.

Gloria and I would like to especially thank Debbie and Charlie Conley for their many hours of searching and putting up posters all over this island, and for Debbie’s 4 a.m. stakeout; Margaret and Bruce Meyer for their long hours of searching; Margaret’s mother for her prayers; Judy and Brian Hamernick for their hard work and long hours; Scott Wilkinson for your hot afternoon spent searching in the swamp with me; my heroes Susan and Alan Tomanek for spotting Princess in their back yard and helping me get her.
