‘The Miracle Worker’ a brilliant production

To the editor:

Aha! Pine Island Playhouse has done it again! Another brilliant production, this time entitled “The Miracle Worker.”

The director, Nichole Pichon, stagers and crew did themselves proud in their clever use of props. The costumes put the audience in the pre-Civil War era without being overwhelming.

The characters that Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke portrayed in the ’60s movie were amply depicted by Caitlyn Turner as Helen and Rebecca Carden as Annie Sullivan. They each held their own.

The flashbacks of Annie’s life were dramatically revealing.

The able cast fit right in around them and made the whole effort come alive with a depth of emotion that may have made some viewers need an extra hanky.

Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke move over.

A cast member walked through the audience with a small basket collecting donations after the play. Pine Islanders, don’t forget this small but important act.

A good sized crowd clapped their hands red in appreciation of the effort put into this performance.

We eagerly look forward to their next endeavor, which will be “Robin Hood.”
