Thanks to all of our supporters
To the editor:
The Pine Island Pool would like to extend a big thank you to all the supporters of the pool this summer. Our Friday fun night was a huge hit with lots of people participating. A big thanks to The Friends of Pine Island Pool, Kiwanis Club, Bobby Holloway Jr. Organization and Mr. Cammick for making the nights such a success. We hope to have it again next summer.
The Lee County School District for providing much needed free lunches for the children of Pine Island. Another huge thanks to the Bobby Holloway folks for always coming through and providing free swim lessons for those in need. The staff at the pool taught 144 children swimming lessons for the summer. The lessons ranged from mom/tot all the way to diving. Nine levels in all were taught.
I am so blessed, as the supervisor of this pool, to have such great support from all the people of Pine Island. While at times it is very trying to fit all the user groups in, I believe everyone had a good swimming summer. The units of service exceed last summer by 20 percent.
Last but not least, to my awesome staff, for doing such a great job and always being there for me. Tori Webb-Martin (lead guard 4 years, sophomore Gainesville), Brittany Webb-Martin (3-year lifeguard, now in the Naval Academy), Sean O’Connor ( 3-year guard, now enrolled in college), Cameron Swartz (2-year lifeguard, senior at Mariner High) and Tyler Davis (1-year lifeguard, sophomore at Mariner High).
