Island “Fill the Boot” campaign successful
To the editor:
On behalf of your firefighters I would like to thank the citizens of Pine Island. This past weekend we participated in the “Fill the Boot” campaign for MDA. If you drove through the center you saw us standing there collecting.
Pine Island, as usual, did a great job, not us firefighters, but you the residents. Thirteen departments in our union participated and we came in 3rd place collecting $11,243. This is impressive considering that we were only on one corner and the other departments were at numerous locations. It is nice to work for a department where the residents are so generous and give freely to those in need. Once again thank you on behalf of your union firefighters
