Ask for info when choosing a summer camp
To the editor:
Summer is approaching soon and parents need to be doing their “homework” on whom they will trust to watch their children.
Not all camps are the same and not all camps are DCF licensed. All camps do have to have background screenings on their owners and employees but unless you are a licensed pre-school or daycare and not just a “summer Camp” DCF will not inspect the facility or their records unless there has been a complaint.
As a parent it is your responsibility and right to ask to see if the staff have all had their background screenings. Don’t entrust your children to just anyone, make sure you ask questions about training, student-to- teacher ratio, and vehicle inspections.
