Festive parade arrives
To the editor:
The St. James City community lighted boat parade was a huge success with many boats decked out in a colorful array of lights with crews dressed in Christmas outfits. Even Santa paid a visit. In addition, there were hundreds of viewers waving and cheering along the parade canal route.
It started with the captains meeting and party Friday evening Dec. 21 at the Ragged Ass Saloon and then the staging festivities along the waterfront at Woody’s Waterside restaurant the next day. The parade started at 6 p.m. and continued through the canals of St. James City and on to the Waterfront Restaurant for the judging of the best decorated boats and best dressed crews. Later, the Waterfront staff provided chili for all participants of the parade. Prizes were awarded to all captains and crew to reward them for their creative work and for presenting such an electrifying and happy parade for the folks of St. James City.
We sincerely thank the following sponsors of this wonderful event that brought happiness and joy to the citizens of St. James City: The Waterfront Restaurant;
Woody’s Waterside Restaurant; The Ragged Ass Saloon; Canvas and Upholstery by Hellene; York Road Marina; Monroe Canal Marina; American Legion; St. James City Auto; Max Marine Insurance; Tow Boat U.S.; Hobo’s Canal View Caf; The Low Key Tiki and the St. James City Boat Club.
