Helping Paws thanks island community
To the editor:
I wish to commend Eagle editor Meghan McCoy for providing complimentary ads for Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary.
At this time of year, we think of those less fortunate and try to help. It is not just humans who need our help, however. Helping Paws is bursting at the seams with cats and kittens, many cute and loving, who get adopted as a result of the ads, but also those who have health challenges or are unadoptable for some reason. At Helping Paws, those who do not find a forever home outside the shelter will have one there. So, although it is not stated in the ads, donations are needed. Donations of food, litter, blankets, treats are appreciated but also financial support is very much needed for the cats who need medical attention and to pay for rent, utilities and expansion.
As a Helping Paws volunteer myself, I urge you to remember our feline friends this Christmas. And, if you are looking for a worthwhile volunteer experience, you would be more than welcome to come help with the kitties. Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary is located at 10060 Mallory E. Parkway in the industrial center, phone 283-9100. Or visit www.helpingpawsanimalsanctuary.com where you can learn about the shelter and make a donation.
