Setting the record straight
To the editor:
Pine Island Wildlife Sanctuary has a very clear policy; our organization only responds to correspondence that we personally receive from verified sources. Our contact information is below in the event you need to contact us directly for any reason.
We do, however, want to state that our organization has no record of any prior correspondence with a Mike Williams who supposedly wrote a letter to the editor in last week’s Eagle about PIWS. We have no record of this individual being at our Pine Island community meeting; everyone at the meeting was required to sign in. We welcome Mr. Williams to contact us directly so that we can address any questions and or concerns that he may have.
As a Florida non-profit organization, we value the trust the public places in our organization. To maintain transparency our year-end financials are prepared by a disinterested third party accountant and will be available for public viewing once filed.
You can follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/PineIslandWildlifeSanctuary. This is the only website we maintain. We had an additional website that we shut down three or four months ago and we apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused. However our Facebook business site has always been up and running and contains updates as well as our contact information.
If you need our wildlife rescue and transport services you can also find our contact information at various locations on Pine Island including the local marinas, the feed and garden store, the chamber of commerce, the fire stations and the sheriff’s office.
Sincerely,
