Junior Olympics’ 30 years of success on the island
To the Editor:
Wow! Thirty years ago the Pine Island Kiwanis and Lee County Parks and Rec had an idea for the kids of Pine Island, so they started the Junior Olympics and this past Saturday was our 30th year. There are parents who participated in Junior Olympics who are now watching their children compete in the same events.
We are very grateful for the community’s help and a special thank you to SunTrust Bank for the silver dollars (2nd and 3rd place), Dairy Queen, Waggoner and Bruehl and Team Shevlin for the T-shirts. Also, I want to thank Winn-Dixie for the hot dogs and drinks and, last but not least, Rich Crotty for his great idea 20 years ago.
