A huge thank you to the Pine Island community for your support of the From Our Hearts second annual OktoberBreast,.which was held on Sunday, Oct. 9, at Miceli’s in Matlacha. More than $6,000 was raised for breast cancer screening and treatment for eligible residents of the greater Pine Island area. From Our Hearts has seen a 30 percent increase in need and this money helps to assure that everyone that needs a mammogram gets one. Early detection is the key to survival. Early detection saves lives.(Men, remember this, too).
This event symbolized what Pine Island is all about – helping each other, showcasing the talent of our residents and having fun.
Fifteen area artists (Joanna Bowles, Mel Meo, Paula Saylard, Cheryl Lamm, Trish Oberg, Marie Cahill, Steve Timcak, Bonnie Conover, Sheila Fitzsimmons, Phil Schaller,Linda Schultz,. Earl Scott, Alan Ledesky, Kathy Joy DiLorenzo and Kathi Smith,) participated in the Painted TaTa project, producing unique, original art that was auctioned off by FOH Vice President and Mango Queen, Melissa Koferl. The bidding was very successful, raising almost $3,000.
Awesome music was provided by the Burnt Out Band, Strange Arrangement and Soap Box – all who donated their time. Please make sure that you support the great musicians that we have on Pine Island.
Thank you to Vinny and Joe Miceli and the staff at Miceli’s. You are great to sponsor this event and donating a portion of that day’s proceeds. Thank you to the FOH Board and Volunteers. Your energy and commitment are second to none. Thank you to Planet PPG Powered Paragliding, Deb Swetsch at Zwear for hand-painted scarf and Captain Jacik’s Sunset Cruise for donations to the Silent Auction. And a special thank you to Joanna Bowles, who was instrumental in the Painted TaTa project.
With great appreciation

My family would like to thank the people of Pine Island & Lee County for all the kindness, generosity and love they have shown Marianne during her time on Pine Island and during her illness and passing; also our time of sorrow.
All who knew Marianne will miss her and cherish her memory forever. She was not only my daughter, but my friend, confident, someone I looked up to and was very proud off.
She loved you all very much, we will miss her terribly.
Marianne’s Mom
