Mosquitoes and mangroves
To the editor:
I just read the article about the mosquitoes and was appalled by it. I do not understand why any state or federal land can not be sprayed on. What does the state or federal lands harbor that spraying for mosquitoes would hurt, unless it would be marijuana plants? There are no humans living there like there is where you and I live and they do not think twice of spraying us.
No wonder we can not get rid of the pest. The pests treat it like you and I would going to a bar. Let’s go get drunk and then go home to our protected state and federal land. Like being a foreign diplomat with immunity and we all know how stupid that is. We all need to get a hold of our state and federal elected people and get this changed. But then again it kind a explains how smart our elected officials are when it comes to doing something right for the people. Like the old saying goes… stupid is as stupid does…
Just a short note on the Mangrove protection. If I have mangroves on my property and want to get rid of them to put a sea wall and boat dock in I not only would not be allowed to but would be put in jail if I did. What makes the developers any better? The mangroves are a very important part of our eco system and no matter how small the section of mangroves are, they should not be destroyed for any reason. But then again we have local, state, and federal elected people overseeing all the is good or bad for us, so I revert back to my last statement in the paragraph above, plus at today’s times for as how tight money is that is all they are thinking about.
